Vinyl Vibes is a retro records series that features some of the nation’s best tribute acts. The 2019-2020 lineup at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center includes tributes to Elton, Queen, James Taylor and Journey.
On Nov. 15, the first Vinyl Vibes concert of the series begins with Rus Anderson performing as a young Elton John in The Rocket Man Show – driving a night of Elton’s greatest hits, with spot on vocals, fierce piano playing and gorgeous costumes. His performance has earned the show an endorsement by the official Elton John Fan Club and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Rus painstakingly recreates an early Elton concert with gorgeous and flamboyant costumes actually worn by Elton – including boots, glasses and jumpsuits from 1973, as well as his sparkly tuxedo from 1984. With all the classic young Elton antics, audiences are in for a night of nostalgia, singing, laughing and fun.
Other concert performers and dates in the series are Absolute Queen on Jan. 10, Fire & Rain – The James Taylor Experience on Feb. 28 and Resurrection – A Journey tribute band on March 7.
General admission is $45, and VIP is $59 for each concert. For the series, general admission is $150, and VIP is $200.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. for cocktails, and the performances will begin at 8 p.m. Call 239-333-1933 or visit www.sbdac.com for more info. The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is located at 2301 First St. in the historic downtown Fort Myers River District.
