The Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda (VAC) recently reopened with limited hours, Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm.
The VAC is thrilled to reopen in time to present the annual exhibit Water, Water Everywhere on display in the Main Gallery and online June 2 – 24.
Water, Water, Everywhere features 2D and 3D artwork with a focus on the coastal lifestyle- boating, fishing, shells, beaches and sun. The VAC will host a live Facebook awards presentation in lieu of a traditional reception, with date and time to be determined based on the winning artist’s availability. Water, Water Everywhere is sponsored by The Partnership for the Arts Talk Show.

In addition, the Sea Grape Gallery artists will exhibit in Goff Gallery and a Graphic Art & Design Show featuring Dave Bise, Ron Sanders, Victor Gartner will be on display in Rebecca Hall. Exhibits are always free to visit. The Gift Gallery and Art Supply Store are also open during the current operating hours of Monday to Friday.
The VAC has also launched a small selection of art classes, open studios and online classes that will continue into the summer. Spacing in each class or studio will be limited to six participants to ensure proper distancing. Students who wish to participate can register online at www.visualartcenter.org. As the VAC transitions to a new normal, the safety of all visitors is our foremost priority. Gloves and masks, while not required, are available at the front desk for those who wish to use them. Personal hand sprays will also be available for visitors.
The Visual Arts Center is located at 210 Maud Street, Punta Gorda, and can be reached at 941-639-8810. The galleries are always free and open to the public. Check out www.VisualArtCenter.org for details on events, exhibits, classes, workshops and more.
